90-Ton Capacity Kettle

90-Ton Capacity Kettle

Among the large-scale steel and aluminum components regularly manufactured at the Rose Corporation are 90-Ton melting kettles used to process lead into a molten lead for the battery industry. Lead batteries are used for a vast number of purposes, but all batteries provide either starting, for instance starting a car, or deep cycle power used to power accessories like trolling motors on boats, winches, or lights.

The melting kettles are fabricated from 1-1/2 inches thick SA515 GR 70 medium carbon steel alloy used for high-temperature service. The head is a 96-inch elliptical also fabricated in SA515 GR 70 medium carbon steel alloy.

All critical welds are full penetration. Throughout the welding process, all welds are inspected by our in-house certified weld inspector. The overall dimensions of the kettles are 10-feet 3-inches in diameter by 6-feet 3-inches high. The kettles weigh 14,000 pounds.

Trivia: The capacity of one kettle of lead could produce 360,000 standard 8 oz. fishing sinkers!
